Eligibility for Portugal Investor Visa

Donation

The applicant must make a non-refundable contribution to a designated national or regional cultural, scientific, or technological initiative in Portugal. The minimum required donation is €250,000. This option allows individuals to support the country’s cultural and technological development while gaining residency benefits.

Admissibility

The applicants aged at least 18 years old must have never been convicted of a criminal offense in any jurisdiction. This evidence must be provided at the submission of the golden visa application.

Documentation

The applicants must provide the proper documentation to establish their identity, proof of qualifying investment and its ownership by the applicants, healthcare coverage, etc.

Important: real estate no longer qualifies

Since October 2023, real estate purchases no longer qualify for Portugal's Golden Visa. Current eligible routes are a minimum €500,000 investment in a qualifying investment fund, or the €250,000 cultural donation route described above. Portugal's 2026 nationality law reform has also extended the minimum residency period required before citizenship eligibility for most non-EU/CPLP applicants — confirm current timelines with us before applying.
