Canadian Experience Class

Skilled Immigration

Canadian Experience Class

Overview

The Canadian Experience Class (CEC) is designed for foreign workers who have at least one year of skilled work experience in Canada within the past three years and who are seeking permanent residence. This Canadian work experience is highly regarded in the Express Entry system and can improve a candidate’s ranking under the Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS).

Process:

Candidates apply through the Express Entry system. Applicants must create an online profile and wait to receive an invitation to apply (ITA) for permanent residence. The CEC is particularly suitable for temporary foreign workers and international graduates who have gained qualifying Canadian work experience, offering a streamlined route to permanent residency.

Eligibility Criteria:

To qualify for CEC, applicants must:

  • Have 12 months of full-time (or equivalent part-time) skilled work experience in Canada in a NOC skill type 0, A, or B within three years before applying.

  • Meet language proficiency levels equivalent to CLB 7 for NOC 0 or A jobs, or CLB 5 for NOC B jobs.

  • Intend to live outside Quebec.

Applicants may apply while they remain in Canada or within six months of leaving their Canadian employment. Work experience gained through self-employment or while studying full-time does not qualify.

How to Apply for CEC:

  • Obtain an appropriate Canadian work permit.

  • Accumulate at least one year of qualifying skilled work experience in Canada.

  • Ensure you satisfy all other program requirements.

  • Create and submit an Express Entry profile.

  • Wait for an Invitation to Apply for permanent residence.

  • Complete required medical examinations and police clearances; submit an electronic application.

  • Receive confirmation of permanent resident status.

The Canadian Experience Class provides an efficient path to permanent residency for those who have already lived and worked in Canada and can demonstrate the skills and adaptability to succeed here.
