British Columbia Provincial Nominee Program

British Columbia Provincial Nominee Program (BC PNP)

British Columbia is a highly sought-after Canadian province offering a Provincial Nominee Program to attract skilled immigrants. Successful candidates receive a British Columbia Provincial Nomination Certificate, which speeds up their application for Canadian permanent residence.

BC PNP Categories

  • Skills Immigration (including Express Entry)

  • Business Immigration

BC PNP Skills Immigration Registration System (SIRS)

SIRS is the interactive selection system used to invite candidates to apply. Candidates are scored from a total of 200 points across key factors:

  • Economic Factors: Job offer skill level (60 points), wage (50 points), employment location (10 points).

  • Human Capital Factors: Work experience (25 points), education level (25 points), language proficiency (30 points).

British Columbia Express Entry Stream

This BC PNP stream is designed to nominate skilled applicants who are also in the federal Express Entry pool. Historically, the stream aimed to nominate 1,350 skilled applicants in 2015 to prioritise their PNP and permanent residence processing.

Applicants under BC PNP may qualify through categories such as:

  • International Post-Graduates

  • International Graduates

  • Skilled Professionals

To enter Express Entry, applicants must be eligible for one of the federal economic programs: Federal Skilled Worker, Federal Skilled Trades, or Canadian Experience Class. Candidates must also meet language requirements, demonstrate financial stability, and provide Educational Credential Assessment results where required.

British Columbia PNP Strategic Occupations Stream

Eligibility typically requires a job offer from a British Columbia employer that cannot be filled by a Canadian citizen or permanent resident. Target categories include:

  • Skilled Workers (NOC 0, A, B)

  • Health Care Professionals

  • International Graduates from Canadian post-secondary institutions

  • Semi-skilled Workers in specified occupations

Pilot Project for International Post-Graduate Students

This pilot focuses on graduates of post-graduate degree programs in natural, applied, or health sciences. Eligible fields include Agriculture, Biological/Biomedical Sciences, Computer/Information Sciences, Engineering, Health Professions, Mathematics, Natural Resource Conservation, and Physical Sciences.
