AAIP includes several principal streams:

1. Alberta Express Entry Stream: Alberta may nominate candidates from the federal Express Entry pool. Candidates typically receive a Notification of Interest (NOI) from Alberta and must have an active Express Entry profile. Priority is often given to applicants with Alberta job offers, Alberta education credentials, or family ties in the province.

2. Strategic Recruitment Stream: This stream permits qualified individuals to seek nomination without employer sponsorship and comprises three categories:

   • Compulsory and Optional Trades Category: For tradespeople holding an Alberta trade certificate and currently working in Alberta on a valid permit.

   • Engineering Occupations Category: For engineers, designers, and drafters with relevant Alberta work experience in specified occupations.

   • Post-Graduate Worker Category: For recent postgraduate degree holders from Alberta institutions who are employed in Alberta on a valid work permit.

3. Employer-Driven Stream: Enables Alberta employers to nominate skilled workers and includes:

   • Skilled Worker Category: For applicants with a full-time, permanent skilled job offer in Alberta.

   • International Graduate Category: For graduates of Canadian institutions who hold a full-time job offer in Alberta.

   • Semi-Skilled Worker Category: For temporary foreign workers in Alberta offered permanent positions in eligible semi-skilled occupations.

4. Self-Employed Farmer Stream: Targets experienced farmers who have the resources to purchase or establish a farm business in Alberta and contribute to the agricultural sector.
